Item #1 – September Meeting, Etc.
Thank you to all the gentlemen who attended our third Catholic Men’s Night. We had our largest turn out ever, with 41 men coming out to hear Fr. Geddes. Unfortunately, priestly duties called Fr. Geddes away to provide the Sacrament of Extreme Unction (Last Rites), so we were not able to listen to his talk. Instead we had a wonderful meal and discussion about the purposes of the Guild and why we as Catholic men need opportunities to become bands of brothers in this increasingly secular society. We apologize for any disappointment due to the last minute cancellation of the talk, but hope that all understand that the priests sacramental duties, especially in cases of emergency, take precedence.
Item #2 – Into the Breach… A Bishop’s Exhortation to Catholic Men (A MUST READ!)
Just released two days ago (On September 29 – Michaelmas or Feast of St. Michael), Bishop Thomas Olmsted has written a beautiful and rich exhortation to Catholic men. I would invite all Catholic gentlemen to read and reflect on the words of Bishop Olmsted, as they go right to the heart of what it means to be a Catholic man in 21st century North America. His Excellency pulls no punches about our current situation, yet offers a hopeful and inspiring message, demanding that we take up our God-given duties as Catholic men. May God bless His Church with many more Good Shepherds like Bishop Olmsted, Bishop Henry and Cardinal Burke.
